Hey Moonchild! I’m back with another Moon cycle spread in preparation of the Dark & New Moon in Aquarius that will happen next week. (Dark moon in Aquarius happens the 24th at 9.41pm UT). This is the fourth spread in my Lunar Cycle series, and I looked forward to this one as I have many Aquarius placements myself! Aquarius Energy
Aquarius is ruled by the planet Uranus, and ancient ruler Saturn. It represents the energy of originality, invention, and humanitarianism and is like its ruling planet a bit of a rebel pushing us to be more authentic and help our communities rise to their potential in a revolutionary way. Aquarius is an air sign, like Gemini and Libra, and in my experience loves to analyze and learn crazy things about the world around them. It is a fixed quality and therefore can be headstrong and stubborn in it’s ways.
During the Dark/New moon there will be an interesting aspect with Uranus, as I just told you this is Aquarius Ruler. I believe this implies things may rise up this cycle, tension, that will push us to be more authentic to our unique selves, but also to be of service to our community. The sun will be in this aspect for a little while so if you have something up in your life pay attention and work on it. Of course, how much this affects you and your life depends on your personal astrological positions.
Aquarius Spread
I tried to build the spread around the astrological themes this Dark Moon phase, as well as based on primal Aquarius energy, so I shaped it like the symbol of Aquarius. Aquarius is thought to be representative of Ganimede, the cupbearer of the Gods in Olympus. Ganimede was a genius, which is why Zeus took him to Olympus, and with his drink he shared his knowledge with the Gods. I like to think that is why Aquarius represents that community serving authentic soul.
The spread is divided up into 2 parts. We start with a “you” card in the center, to the left we lay out cards (2, 4, 6) that relate us to our environment, our community, and to the right we lay out cards (3, 5, 7) that relate to our authentic selves. You can lay each part out at once, or follow the build up from the centre I describe below. This spread contains 2 card which I consider optional if the spread is too big for your taste, but feel free to tweak it to your abilities.
1. Your Energy.
As you may have noticed from my spreads, I like to confirm the current point from which we are working to better understand the entirety of the spread. This is the current energy you are in.
2. How to serve your community
Almost everyone belongs to a community, a group of friends, a family, and we all have our roles to play in these groups. This card resembles how during this cycle you can serve your community better for themselves and for you.
3. How to express your unique self
Maybe you know your unique self to the fullest, maybe you don’t, or maybe you struggle to express it. However you feel, this card will give you advice how you can express your authenticity this cycle.
4. Something to share
Everyone has something to share be it knowledge, compassion, something meaningful. Knowing what you have to share is a great way to both make yourself feel empowered and reach out into your own or new communities.
5. Something to analyze
Aquarius is a thinker, what is something you really need to figure out more deeply in your life. Anything from issues, to dreams and situations, this card shows you what needs a little more attention.
*6. What could help connect with others
This is an extra card. What could help you connect more easily with others? If you have social anxiety or have been a bit of hermit lately this might be a helpful card to read.
*7. What could help connect with yourself
This is an extra card. Apart from connecting with others, we can feel disconnected with ourselves. Aquarius can be a bit emotionally disconnected at times so if you struggle with that maybe this card will help you out a little.
Aquarius reading
As always here is my example reading to demonstrate how I would interpret this spread.
1. Your Energy – Page of Swords R
You’re not currently owning your power, you’re rushing through turning the natural curiosity of the Page into half-assed discoveries. Your restlessness isn’t harnessed properly and what you’re doing may not be able to settle or be done properly. Taking a deep breath and collect your thoughts might help you bring this back in line.
2. How to serve your community – 10 of Wands R
You need to prioritise. There’s a burden or responsibility present related to your community and you’re not dealing with it appropriately. It may be difficult to prioritise what needs to be done, to reach out and share your responsibility perhaps, but you need to really think what is doable, and what is best for you and your community. Perhaps it’s a burden you don’t have to bear by yourself and this is your call to accept help outside.
3. How to express your unique self – High Priestess R
You are likely holding part of yourself back, something you’re perhaps ashamed of or insecure about. Listen to your intuition about your unique authentic self, not your fears or ego.
4. Something to share – 2 of Swords
The 2 of swords is about choice, indecision but in this case I see it more as the ability to see various sides of a story, the pros and cons on either side, the potential. It’s not so much making the choice as it is understanding what the duality is about. Perhaps you can offer others this insight in situations to help them better understand choices at hand.
5. Something to analyze – King of Wands
The king of wands is a truly passionate conqueror, a leader able to overcome challenges, he looks at the bigger picture, and that may be exactly what you need to analyze. What is the bigger picture of what is currently happening and what are the challenges on the way about or related to in order to overcome them.
*6. What could help connect with others – Wheel of Fortune
This is a tricky card for this position. The wheel of fortune is about change and fate. I believe in this case it could imply changing the way you approach others, taking control in the situation or instead not worrying about it and let fate decide the way for you. This is a card I would pull a clarifier for if I thought it important, or I could do a spread on this position later on if it applies.
*7. What could help connect with yourself – 3 of Swords
Three of swords isn’t the most pleasant card, it often points to heartbreak and grief, not necessarily emotional but rather mental suffering. Connecting with yourself could be done by allowing yourself to feel these unpleasant feelings, sort them out and find a way to accept them and move past them. Perhaps you’ve been avoiding to deal with this and this can be your way to reconnect.
This can be a little tricky to get an overall feel for, while things do really relate to another they can easily be taken out and made into their own special thing to work on further. The overall feeling I get is a disconnect between body and soul (not unlike Aquarius) but also a sense to be able to serve others in “simple” yet special ways.
